A lot of the time, people have never even considered the option of traveling solo, but they are missing out! Even if it’s something that you don’t choose to do all the time, it’s an invaluable experience that everyone should have at least once in their lives. A lot of people who have traveled solo will tell you that it’s one of the best things they’ve ever decided to do, and they would be right!
You Can Create Your Own Itinerary
Decide whatever it is that you want to do, and try out every random thing that you’ve ever thought about doing at this destination! It’s so much fun to try new things, especially when you’re on your own and in a new place! It’s even more fun when you meet people who are also traveling solo, and in the same boat. What a great way to meet a new person, and bond with them for the first time. You can also decide that you simply don’t want to do something on your list – and that’s okay, too! You’ll very likely find so many new things to do once you arrive at your destination!
You Don’t Have To Compromise How You Spend Your Time
Compromising how you spend your time, and adhering to a schedule created by two or more people, can honestly be one of the most stressful parts of any trip! When you don’t have to worry about the expectations that others have of the trip, you can safely do whatever it is that you like, and not have to worry about letting anyone down – especially yourself! If you decide that you’re going to spend the rest of your day by the beach, starting at the waves, go for it. You don’t have anywhere else to be, unless you choose to. How great does that sound?
You Have The Opportunity To Meet More People
Of course you have the opportunity to meet new people when you’re traveling with others, but it’s not quite the same as it is when you’re traveling solo. Some of the best bonds you’re likely to make, however brief, are sure to be with people you meet during your solo travels. It’s a very unique situation, and you’ll be surprised how well you’ll have the opportunity to bond with some of the people you meet, and they will quite likely become lifelong friends. This means that when you travel to their home country, you’ll have a place to stay, and a friend to show you around, which is always a good thing! You can also take pride in showing them where you’re from, should they ever decide to head out your way!
You Can Be As Spontaneous As You Like
You can go out and do whatever you want, on whichever day you choose! You can also stay in bed, do absolutely nothing, order room service and watch pay per view movies all day. The point is, you can do whatever you want, and you can decide to do it whenever you like! You can change plans whenever you see fit, you can decide that you’re going to head out and check out a place out of town at the last minute. If you happen to walk by a movie theater, and notice that there’s a movie playing that you want to see, you can walk right in, and purchase a ticket. Whatever you decide you want to do on any given day, is exactly what you’ll be able to do – and it is nothing short of awesome!
The Experience Is Your Own
One of the most common reasons that you’ll hear people give for why they don’t travel alone, is fear. It pretty much boils down to fear of the unknown. This is understandable, but before you head out on a solo trip, do some research. Get on the internet and check out one or all of the many review sites that are available to us these days. Reach out to friends, family and colleagues who have been to the destination that you’re looking to travel to, and get their advice and perspective. There are so many resources out there that will be useful to you! Once you get to where you’re going, make it whatever you want to be. This experience is yours and it’s one that you’re sure to remember for the rest of your life, so be safe, and have an amazing solo trip! Enjoy the road less traveled – solo!
